Reluctantly

bcb723 Thematically one statement, "Reluctantly" even tops Suicide Forest's prior LP - which is a pretty strong record. This is something else. This shows a deep and utterly unafraid conviction by A. Kruger to reveal what is beneath the surface in his mind. From the submerged "Overkill"-like drums that kick-off track 2, to the next track which slow dirge inverses the same melody line, to the final spoken word speech (confession?) - everything is in its right place. A devastating & solitary album. Favorite track: Trembling in Emptiness.

Dave Aftandilian One of my favorite DSBM projects: icy cold nihilism with an undercurrent of a deeply caring heart. Pace is appropriately slow enough to bleed out to as you watch the Sun descend into eternal darkness. I especially appreciate the powerful guitar work here, adding layer upon layer of smothering despair to the already desperate lyrics.

Reluctantly 09:41
Reluctantly I was pulled from the serenity of non-existence From the beauty of the blackest night expelled into the harsh, cruel, unfeeling light Reluctantly I was pulled from the peace of never being Awakened from an endless dream chained to flesh and form far removed from the world unseen Conceived into this life through no fault of my own Damned to be unwanted unwelcome and alone
2.
As the light fades from my eyes I am overcome with savage dread. The fiery chill petrifies my veins Nothing is real, all meaning has changed. Falling into the cold blackness Possessed by hateful madness A sleepless dream of unending sadness As the light fades from my eyes All thoughts, all words cease to realize The haunting silence resonates through the vast emptiness. It calls to me, it condemns me it drags me into the blackness.

Remorse 04:26
4.
Anguished cries resound through the empty midnight. Howling into nothingness an acolyte of loneliness Alone, searching for what can never be found Like an agonizing poison coursing through my veins Like a paralyzing venom of bitterness and disdain Trembling in emptiness possessed by cold blackness In a world that is meaningless All I want is lifelessness
5.
As the light fades from my eyes I revel in anticipation I await the final demise Alone I have lived and suffered this world Alone I have lived and suffered it's horrors As the light fades into cold blackness The chill of death brings the embrace I've never known
